ESPN Revisits COPA America

It has not been a great COPA for ESPN, as they are currently down $8,607 after the first round:

Country Risked To Win To qualify, or not to qualify, that is the question Result
Colombia 378 912 Fail to Qualify -378
USA 1864 4362 Fail to Qualify -1864
Paraguay 865 1739 Qualify -865
Costa Rica 793 1808 Qualify -793
Brazil 0 0 No Opinion 0
Ecuador 4 2 Qualify 2
Peru 859 485 Fail to Qualify -859
Haiti 551 8942 Qualify -551
Uruguay 1824 377 Qualify -1824
Mexico 280 73 Qualify 73
Jamaica 33 152 Qualify -33
Venezuela 400 80 Fail to Qualify -400
Argentina 42 390 Fail to Qualify -42
Chile 474 2144 Fail to Qualify -474
Panama 598 3146 Qualify -598
Bolivia 0 0 No Opinion 0
Net Qualifying Results -8607

That’s based off of a bankroll of $10,000. Not good. They also have some futures bets pending:

Country Risked To Win We are the champions! Result
Colombia 0 0 No Opinion 0
USA 2440 210 Fail to win Copa
Paraguay 0 0 No Opinion 0
Costa Rica 0 0 No Opinion 0
Brazil 910 4640 Win Copa -910
Ecuador 409 13100 Win Copa

Venezuela 0 0 No Opinion 0
Argentina 3490 1662 Fail to win Copa
Chile 0 0 No Opinion 0
Panama 0 0 No Opinion 0
Bolivia 0 0 No Opinion 0

Having said all of that, there are still quarterfinal bets to take care of:

Country Risked To Win
USA 16 15
Peru 627 1850
No Opinion 0 0
Mexico 928 800

That’s again with a $10,000 bankroll. For the most part SPI agrees with the lines on the first and third quarterfinal. Oddly, ESPN’s best hope for an overall profit is an Ecuador victory. Heck, let’s give them another crack at the futures:

Country Risked To Win Champion?
Argentina 2837 3206 No
Colombia 425 2767 Yes
Mexico 233 1565 Yes
USA 438 7000 Yes
Chile 2000 222 No
Ecuador 347 7048 Yes
Peru 161 11300 Yes
Venezuela 0 0 No Opinion

They still don’t believe in Argentina. Lots of faith in the Ecuador-USA winner. Fascinating stuff.
